In an effort to provide a very focused and informational resource for all of you AdSensers out there, I have created the Adsense Fire Forums.
Of course, I must tell you that my real intent is to become ultra rich and wealthy off of them like Shawn Hogan from Digital Point. Hah. I kid, I kid. But seriously. I hope this turns into a community effort at some point.
You know, once there’s actually a community.
The forum is running off of the Simple Machines Forum engine and looks quite dashing with the smashing template I chose. ..If I do say so myself.
All are welcome to come and join in on the AdSense forum jubilee!
See you there.

Just a quick tip for all of you wonderful FireFox users out there. Download Adsense Notifier by mincus and you’ll be glad you did.
I use it all the time. Not only does it display useful total statistics, like your current total view count, your total click count, your total amount earned, etc. but it also allows you to right-click and go directly to Google AdSense already logged-in.
You can set it to update from every 15 minutes on up to however you want. If you want to do a manual update, just do a left click on the Adsense Notifier area.
I don’t know about you but it’s a huge time-saver for me. I’ve been using this plugin for quite some time now, and it’s saved me a lot of logins.

Now there’s something you don’t read every day. John Chow wrote a post about The Internet’s Biggest Google Whores, which despite its name is a very inspiring article (at least to me).
If you go down the list, you’ll notice a trend. That’s right, the more users that visit a site every day, the bigger the paycheck. Profound, I know. But think about it– if you’re writing in a blog and expecting it to bring in huge returns, you better know how to market it. Just look at ShoeMoney’s Adsense check:

If that’s not inspiration enough right there to put marketing at the top of your priority list, I wonder what kind of jell-o your brain is made of. ShoeMoney is a pro at marketing his thousands of websites.
It’s no surprise to see Digg.com at the #2 spot, as it gets well over 200 million page views per month. $3 million this year alone. Not too shabby. How long do you think it will take to make News Corp. its investment back? Haha.
Notice the #1 spot is taken up by a dating website– PlentyOfFish.com. This is sad. I don’t mean because it’s #1, I mean because there are so many damned lonely people wandering the planet that dating sites are sucking the life out of us. What is exceptionally cool about this particular website is that it was built from the ground up by its owner and I can identify with him on that level as I built Sitdiary.net from the ground up; however, on the $3.6 million/year revenue from Adsense, I can not.

While browsing through some Diggs on digg.com, I came across a recent article written by Carlos Cardoso called Breaking news: Brazil blocks AdSense payments.
Here’s a copy of the email clipping from Brazil’s AdSense team he posted on his blog:
From: “Google AdSense” adsense-pt@google.com
Subject: Important message about your AdSense payment
Hello;
We´d like to inform you that the delivery of your AdSense paycheck, from December, was aborted, unexpectedly, due to restrictions imposed by brazilian customs laws, related to courier-delivered checks.
be assured we are working to solve this impasse as soon as possible and we will contact you again as soon as we´ve further information.
Cardoso comments “What kind of government is stupid enough to block INCOMING money? there´s not even a single fracking tax advantage to people who BRING money to the country, but at least we should´ve equal rights to people who make money in country.”
Personally, I find this sadly humorous. Sad because these people aren’t getting paid and because their government has their panties in a bunch over something. Humorous because I agree with Cardoso.
You can watch for updates on this posting on The Jungle Book.

From back in 2005, but still useful, Adsense posted very useful tips for use with Forums.
As forums can be difficult to place ads into, this post is especially helpful for all of us trying to earn a few bucks from these projects.
Read more about ad optimization for forums at Inside AdSense: Six AdSense optimization tips for forums.
To your left, you will see a heatmap for the ideal positions for ads in your layout. As always, the top left spot is the hottest and it gets gradually colder from there as you move to the bottom right.
Additionally, they advise the use of image ads as well as text ads, rather than just using the latter.
